How can I be sure I will get what I order in the marketplace?
If the seller is located in the same town or local area, you could make the purchase in person.
For a transaction with a seller at a larger distance, OmniCoin offers a distributed escrow service for marketplace transactions.
The buyer (you) and the seller agree on an escrow agent, based on the agent’s reputation and reliability in the marketplace. The OmniCoin software creates a special type of transaction ("SecureSend") that can only be completed when two of the three parties in the transaction (the buyer, the seller, and escrow) “sign” the transaction. The seller can see that you have committed your money to the transaction, and be confident that it is safe to ship the product. You can be confident that the transaction won’t complete until you have received the product.
When you and seller acknowledge (using the OmniCoin software) that you are satisfied with the transaction, the software automatically sends the purchase money to the seller.
If there is a dispute, the escrow agent will examine the facts, and arbitrate the dispute. If it is clear that the seller doesn’t send you the merchandise, the escrow agent and the OmniCoin software will return the money to your account. On the other hand, if the seller can prove you received the merchandise (such as by providing a delivery receipt), the escrow agent will release the funds to the seller.
